F-16 Fighter Aircraft
Taiwan has deployed the most advanced versions of the F-16 fighter jet in its Air Force. The self-governing island has increased its defense capabilities in view of the increasing threats from China. China sees Taiwan as part of its country. Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen on Thursday inducted 64 advanced F-16V fighter jets into the fleet at the Air Force Base in Chiayi. This aircraft is part of a total of 141 F-16 A / B aircraft of Taiwan, which is an older model of this aircraft.
Tsai said the advanced aircraft shows the strength of Taiwan’s cooperation with the US defense industry. They have been inducted into the Air Force at a time when the island’s status is the main reason for tension in US-China relations. China has increased tension by sending fighter aircraft to the buffer zone of Taiwan. China has voiced its claim on Taiwan and President Xi Jinping told President Joe Biden in a virtual summit this week that the challenges posed to China’s claim on the island. That means playing with fire.
US relations with Taiwan improve
China and Taiwan broke away during the civil war in 1949, and Beijing once again wants to make it part of it. It did not rule out using force to make the island its part again. America’s ‘One China’ policy recognizes Beijing as China’s government, but allows for informal ties and defense ties with Taipei. Tsai said, this represents the firm partnership promise of Taiwan-US. I am sure that there will certainly be more countries with similar values who will stand with us on this front in the steadfastness of democratic values.
Jinping said – the hands of those who play with fire get burnt
Significantly, on Tuesday, Xi Jinping took a tough stand in an online meeting with his American counterpart Joe Biden on Tuesday, saying that China will definitely protect its sovereignty and security interests. He warned that anyone who plays with fire over Taiwan will be burnt. This was the first summit between the two leaders since Biden took over as US President. Before this, the two talked on the phone twice. The talks took place in two rounds and lasted for more than three hours. He said that the rise of China is an inevitable trend of history and cannot be stopped.
