Muhammad Wasim scored a century in the fourth T20 match.
Even before the T20 World Cup, there is a lot of buzz in T20 cricket. Under this, some teams decided to play their series in the UAE so that the pitches are known before the tournament. In this episode, a team series was played between Ireland Cricket Team and United Arab Emirates. On 10 October, in the third match of the series, the UAE defeated Ireland by seven wickets in a one-sided fashion. Chasing the target of 135 runs, his opener Mohammad Wasim batted stormy and scored more than half the runs alone. He scored an unbeaten 107 off 62 balls with 14 fours and four sixes. With this, UAE won the match with 23 balls remaining. Earlier, Ireland scored 134 runs for five wickets due to half-century from Kevin O’Brien (54). UAE won the three-match series 2-1.
UAE won the toss and elected to bowl. But Ireland started off softly. Paul Stirling (40) and Kevin O’Brien (54) put on 85 runs for the first wicket in 11.3 overs. However, both could not convert a good start into a big score. UAE spinner Rohan Mustafa took three wickets in three overs and pushed Ireland back. He first dismissed Paul Stirling. Then Gareth Delany (4) was bowled. Then he also made Kevin O’Brien a victim. O’Brien hit one four and two sixes in his 45-ball innings.
Ireland’s batting momentum was lost due to the fall of three wickets in three consecutive overs. Captain Andy Balbirnie’s retired hurt was the right thing to do. The Irish team could score 29 runs in the last 27 balls. Because of this, his score reached only 134 runs for five wickets. Rohan Mustafa was the most successful bowler for UAE, taking three wickets for 23 runs in four overs.
Wasim was the hero of UAE’s innings
Chasing the target, UAE lost opener Chirag Suri (4) in the second over. Then Vritya Anand (11) also returned in the sixth over. But Mohammad Wasim took one end and single-handedly threw out the Irish bowlers. He added 92 runs for the third wicket with Mohammad Usman (10). In this, Usman’s contribution was only 10 runs. Mohammad Wasim completed 100 runs in 60 balls with 14 fours and three sixes. This is his first century of T20 career. Mohammad Wasim has played only four T20 matches so far and has shown his ability.
