After the toss, before the match started, the fans got to see such a sight on the field which has never happened till date. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were seen kneeling on the ground before stepping inside the ground. Along with him in the dugout, the rest of the players of the current team India were seen sitting on one knee with their hands on their chest. On the other hand, the players of Pakistan were present on the field and they too had their hands on their chest.
This was the reason to sit on the knees
In fact, both India and Pakistan teams did this to support the ongoing Black Live Moment against racism around the world. Team India had not given information about this earlier. However, this sight on the field touched the heart of every fan. Team India has done this before as well. Team India’s move is being praised a lot on social media.
England West Indies teams also did this work
On Saturday, the teams of England and West Indies also gave the message of Black Life Matter by sitting on their knees. Both teams had said before the match that they would do so to support the fight against racism. Teams from India and Pakistan also supported this campaign in their own way.
England players last did this during an ODI match against Ireland in August 2020 but their decision not to do so further was criticized by former West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding. After this, in the T20 World Cup, the teams of Australia and South Africa first kneeled and then England and West Indies.
