It is very important to choose the right varieties for sowing wheat.
Farmers are currently sowing Rabi crops. Wheat is the main crop of Rabi season and is widely cultivated in many states. But due to lack of information, farmers are not able to choose those varieties from which they can get more yield. Improved varieties also reduce the risk of disease and insect attacks. In such a situation, farmers do not have to spend on pesticides and due to reduction in cost, the income automatically increases.
Wheat sowing is in its final stages in Punjab, Haryana, western parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. But in states like eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand, sowing is gaining momentum and has not even started in some parts. In such a situation, if farmers make arrangements for improved quality seeds in advance, then it will help them to increase their income.
Karan Narendra
Farmers can cultivate Karan Narendra variety. With this, an average yield of up to 61.3 quintals can be obtained in one hectare. This variety has a yield potential of 82.1 quintals per hectare. Its stem is strong and has the ability to deal with waterlogged conditions. Karan Narendra, who is ready in 143 days, is also not affected by yellow rot disease.
Karan Vandana
Karan Vandana is a variety ready to ripen in 148 days. With its cultivation, farmers can get a yield of 61 to 96 quintals per hectare. It has the ability to prevent yellow rot, leaf rot and scorch disease.
DBW-187
This variety matures in 120 days and becomes ready. With the DBW-187 NEPZ variety, farmers can get a yield of 49 to 65 quintals in one hectare. It can be sown in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Apart from this, it can also be cultivated in the northern areas of the Northeast.
DBW 47
Yellow pigment is found in DBW 47. This is the reason why it is used extensively in making pasta. By sowing this variety, farmers can get yield up to 74 quintals per hectare.
Karan Shriya
Karan Shriya needs only one irrigation. This variety, which matures in 127 days, has the ability to tolerate drought-like conditions. It also has the properties of protection against diseases like scorch, leaf rot and karnal bunt. Farmers of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and plains of Northeast India can sow it. Its yield is slightly less and ranges from 36.7 quintals to 55.6 quintals in one hectare.
