The minimum support price of wheat is Rs. 1975 per quintal, while in the online market it is being sold at a price less than Rs. 200 to Rs. 300. This is also the condition of gram. In such a situation, how will the income of the farmers increase?
What is the rate of wheat in online market?
It has been four days since Rabi marketing season started on 2021-22. Wheat crop has started coming in the mandis. Where it is being purchased at the minimum support price (MSP). But the government’s online Mandi e-Naam (e-NAM) is not getting its right price. The MSP of wheat is Rs 1975, while its minimum price (Wheat Price) in online market is Rs 1,404 and maximum Rs 1,841. Agricultural experts are raising questions about the system of online market, what is the benefit of the platform on which farmers will not get good prices.
1000 mandis of the country are connected on the e-Naam platform. It has been presented by the government as a model of reform in the agricultural sector (Agri Reform). Agricultural economist Devinder Sharma says that on a platform built in the name of reform, farmers are getting less than the MSP, then what is the benefit of such changes and reforms to the farmers? Till the government does not make the model price of the e-name MSP, the farmers will not get the benefit of it. It is meaningful when there is no purchase below MSP. Till the assured income is not fixed, the condition of the farmers will not improve.
What is e-name?
E-Naam is an electronic agriculture portal, which works to connect the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in the country into a network. Its objective is to provide a market at the national level for agricultural products. With this, farmers get to know the prices of agricultural commodities in agricultural mandis across the country.
On this platform, 1,70,25,393 farmers from 21 states have been added. Apart from this, 1,63,391 traders, 90,980 commission agents and 1,841 Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) are also doing business on it.
