The Pfizer company claims that 2260 children aged 12–15 years were tried. On March 31, 2021, the company said that the vaccine is 100 percent effective on children. In March, clinical trials also started on children aged 6 months to 11 years. In the first phase of the trial, the company has divided the children into three groups. Trial of children from 6 months to 2 years, 2-5 years and 5-11 years. The first dose will be decided for 5-11 year olds. Pfizer claims that the results of the trials will be found by September. Moderna company also started trials in the US, it is likely that the results will come by July.
The availability of vaccine for children in India is still in doubt. Bharat Biotech Company had sought approval for the trials in February itself, but the Drug Regulators Authority rejected it and said that first prove its effectiveness on the elders. If the vaccine is approved on children anywhere in the world, then that too will be good news for India because it is possible that those countries may also have to turn to India for vaccine production as India is the largest manufacturer of vaccines.
