In the 2016 Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand, in the horse trading case, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, suspended ADG Anurag Gupta and former CM’s advisor Ajay Kumar will face a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act). Action will be taken under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the matter of affecting the election in the Rajya Sabha Election 2016 case. After this, the police has started going to court and completing the legal proceedings.
According to HT’s news, in the application filed in the court, the police said that on the basis of the evidence gathered, prima facie it appears that Das should be prosecuted under the PC Act. Controversy arose in this matter in 2016, when Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Mahesh Poddar managed to reach the Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand as BJP candidates during the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha.
Babulal Marandi had released the audio tape
Everyone was surprised at the election of BJP’s second candidate i.e. Poddar as the party did not have enough votes for this. After the Rajya Sabha elections in 2016, Babulal Marandi released an audio tape. In this purported tape, talk of conversation between ADG Anurag Gupta, then MLA Nirmala Devi, her husband Yogendra Sao had come to the fore.
Raghubar Das’s name was not in the FIR
After the matter came to light, the entire matter was complained to the Election Commission. After prima facie investigation, the commission had ordered an FIR. The government had then lodged a case on the statement of Awadhesh Thakur, Under Secretary of the Home Department. In this case, after the suspension of Anurag Gupta in the month of February, the state government had initiated departmental action. At the same time, the Home Department approved the police for corruption case against former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, while Das was not named in the FIR of the case.
Raghuvar Das said – the government is doing politics of revenge
Raghuvar Das had said in the matter a few days ago that the Jharkhand government is trying to involve me in the six-year-old Rajya Sabha election 2016 case by adding new sections, if so, then I welcome this decision. To keep the matter alive, at the behest of the government, some capable officials have started an attempt to add new sections to it, for the first time in Jharkhand, the politics of hatred and revenge is starting.
