A father’s struggle to save the life of his 5-year-old son in Jamtara, Jharkhand (Father’s Struggle) has come to the fore. Dileep Yadav’s 5-year-old son Vivek is struggling with Thalassemia disease. Due to this disease, no blood is being formed in his body. He needs 2 unit blood every month. For a negative blood, Dilip Yadav has to travel by bicycle with his son 400 km away from the village.
Due to poverty, he has no other means of going to the city. He only has a bicycle, with the help of which he walks 400 km every month and gives blood to his son. In fact, his house is about 40 meters from Godda headquarters. That is why they have to go to another district by bicycle.
Father forced to go 400 km for blood
Dileep was treating his son at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi till now. There, he used to get two units of blood for free every month for his son. But due to the lockdown last year, he had to return to the village. Now with the help of people, he goes to another district and gets his son blood transfused. He says that there is still no shortage in the world of good people, that is why Vivek is getting blood every month and he is alive.
A child struggling with thalassemia disease
Doctors say that it will cost about 10 lakhs to cure this disease. But Dileep cannot raise such a huge amount, that is why he is forced to go 400 km away from the village to offer blood to him every month. He has also requested help from Mahagama MLA Deepika Pandey for the treatment of his son. He says that if he gets help under the government scheme, then he will get him treated at Gangaram Hospital in Delhi.
The father told that Vivek has got Thalassemia disease only after five months of his birth. His body does not make blood, so he has to offer blood every month.
