Gallantry awards: Gallantry awards have been announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2022. The brave soldiers of the country are honored with different gallantry awards for their bravery. The most important of these gallantry awards is the Param Vir Chakra, which is the highest military award. This is followed by Mahavir Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra and Shaurya Chakra. Let us know the importance of these awards and to whom the honor is given.
Param Vir Chakra- Param Vir Chakra is the highest military gallantry award received in the Army. This honor is given to the brave soldiers of the army, who have done brave acts of bravery, valor, self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy. This Chakra is given for courageous performance in war time. The lace of this chakra is of plain purple colour.
Ashoka Chakra- The name of Ashoka Chakra also comes in the awards given at the time of peace. This honor is given to soldiers and civilians for exceptional valor, bravery or sacrifice. This award can also be given posthumously. This chakra is conferred by the President.
Kirti Chakra – This honor was established on 4 January 1952. Apart from soldiers and officers of the Army, Air Force and Navy, this award is also given to the Territorial Army and common citizens. So far, 198 bravehearts have been given this award posthumously.
Mahavir Chakra- Mahavir Chakra is the second highest military gallantry award for gallantry. It is given for showing exceptional bravery. This chakra is also given for gallantry at the time of war. It ranks second in bravery.
Vir Chakra- This wheel is also given for bravery. In preference, it comes after Mahavir Chakra. This chakra can also be given posthumously. The lace of Vir Chakra is half blue and half orange.
