Describing Sharma as an “ordinary member and a BJP supporter”, he said he had no need to “fear or expect” from the party. He wrote on Twitter, ‘I am now a supporter of BJP and a normal member. So I have nothing to fear or expect from BJP. I support BJP because it is closest to my thinking in terms of ideology, religion, politics and leadership. I am saddened by the treatment meted out to Nupur Sharma.
The BJP on Sunday suspended its spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled its Delhi media head Naveen Kumar Jindal from the party. He has been accused of making controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad. Which is being condemned all over the world. Sharma made this controversial statement regarding Prophet Mohammad during the ongoing debate on Gyanpani Masjid in Varanasi. Due to which there was a violent clash in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Friday. Nupur Sharma’s statement is being widely criticized all over the world. Qatar, Iran and Kuwait have summoned Indian diplomats.
Saudi Arabia issued a statement
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the remarks of the BJP spokesperson, saying they insulted Prophet Mohammed. Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry reiterated its disapproval of prejudices against symbols of the religion of Islam. He rejected everything that promoted prejudice against all revered people and symbols. Welcoming the BJP’s move to suspend its spokesperson, the ministry reiterated Saudi Arabia’s stand to call for respect for faiths and religions.
Earlier, Qatar, Iran and Kuwait had summoned the Indian ambassadors on Sunday over the controversial remarks of the BJP leader about Prophet Mohammad. Important countries of the Gulf region have lodged strong objections condemning these comments. A spokesperson for the Indian Embassy in Qatar and Kuwait said in a press release, the ambassador pointed out that those tweets do not in any way reflect the views of the Indian government.
