Sheikh Hasina, who ran away from Bangladesh, is going to be a year, but her fear remains in the people of Bangladesh even today. Bangladesh new government initiated legal action against him under which a case is being run against him. People are not ready to testify against the oppression in 15 years of his tenure. It is being claimed in many reports that people have also been threatened with death for testifying.
According to local media, through the phone conversation, Sheikh Hasina threatened to kill the plaintiff, witnesses, investigating officers and those involved in the trial process, which is equivalent to obstructing pending proceedings before the Tribunal, according to Section 11 (4) of the International Crime Tribunal Act, 1973. On doing this, the court sentenced Sheikh Hasina to 6 months.
Witnesses afraid of testifying
Sheikh Hasina's case Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul said in response to a question that the International Crime Tribunal investigating agency has said in a phone conversation that the witnesses are afraid to testify. Many people are afraid of coming here to register cases. Which is equivalent to obstructing the hearing process of this tribunal.
227 cases registered against Sheikh Hasina
Sheikh Hasina has been witnesses in cases of 227 cases registered in different police stations and courts of Bangladesh. Not only this, many of the 227 cases have been transferred and brought to the tribunal.
Tajul said, “We have been intimidated. But we are not afraid. We are not afraid of anything. We will work according to the law, there is no reason to be afraid. We are worried about witnesses, the most important thing in these cases is witnesses, witnesses are common people spread in remote areas of the country. He said that if the investigating officers are scared, then the investigation of the case will be affected.
