Turkish presidential election: Türkiye president of recep tayyip erdogan Has been in power for the last 20 years. Whether he will remain for the next five years or not, a decision will be taken today. Today is the second phase of voting in the Turkish presidential election. The first phase of polling was held on 14 May. No one got majority in the first round. In this election, a tough fight is being seen between President Erdogan and his rival Kemal Kilikdaroglu.
In the first round of voting, neither of the two got more than 50 percent votes. Today there will be a runoff voting i.e. a decisive contest between the two candidates. Turkey requires 50 percent of the vote to form a government. If this does not happen, there is a second phase of voting. This voting is called ‘run off’.

No one got majority in the first round
It will be interesting to see whether Erdogan’s chair will be saved or lost in this decisive contest. According to the local time in Turkey, voting will start at 8 o’clock, which will run till 5 o’clock. The eyes of the world are fixed on today’s voting.
There was 88.8 percent voting in the first round. Erdogan got 49.4 percent of the votes, while Kilikdaroglu, who is called Gandhi of Turkey, got 45 percent of the votes. At the same time, Nationalist candidate Sinan Ogan got 5.2 percent votes.
Erdogan in power for 20 years
Erdogan has been ruling Turkey for almost 20 years. He has been in power since 2003. This year he became the Prime Minister of the country for the first time. At the same time, in the year 2014, he became the President of Türkiye. During these 20 years, he was both the Prime Minister and the President of the country.

The public is not happy with Erdogan’s work
If Erdogan’s rival Kemal Kilikdaroglu wins this election, it will be seen as the biggest change in Turkey because the public there is not happy with Erdogan’s work. There is anger in them. Recently Turkey has seen the biggest tragedy. City after city was ruined in the powerful earthquake that occurred on 6 February. More than 50 thousand people died.
