This soft variety of wheat is being considered as revolutionary for many areas of the country.
Production of more than 5 tons in one hectare, highest from other countries
The soft variety of wheat developed by IARI is full of many features. Developed by IARI, this soft variety of wheat is capable of producing more than 5 tonnes in one hectare. In Australia, the production of the soft variety of wheat planted between March and June is 1.5 tonnes in one hectare. While this winter wheat variety in America gives a yield of 4 to 5 tons in one hectare, but in both the countries it takes 8 to 9 months to grow, while in India it is 125. Will be ready in a day and production will also be more than 5 tonnes in one hectare. At the same time, the special thing is that the amount of protein in the country’s first soft variety of wheat is up to 11.5 percent. At the same time, the amount of gluten is 8.9, which is considered very low.
India now buys soft wheat from abroad at high prices, used in bakery
The softest variety of wheat is most commonly used in bakeries. For example, soft varieties of wheat are needed to make many cakes, biscuits, etc. prepared in bakery, but till now soft variety of wheat was not produced in India. In such a situation, till now India used to get this soft variety of wheat from abroad at high prices. According to the data, India had imported more than three thousand soft wheat from abroad in the year 2021-22. The cost of which was Rs 4226 per quintal. At the same time, in 2020-21, India imported 2147 tonnes of soft wheat from abroad at the rate of Rs 3797 per quintal.
