Filmmaker embroiled in black poster controversy Leena Manimekalai There has been news of relief from the Supreme Court. The court has upheld the ban on the arrest of Leena Manimekalai. The court said during the hearing that the states which have not yet filed their reply should file their reply.
In the last hearing, Leena Manimekalai’s lawyer Kamini Jaiswal had said that Leena is a famous filmmaker. There are 6 cases registered against him, in which a total of 6 cases have been registered in UP, MP, Uttarakhand, Delhi. Look out circular has been issued. The lawyer had said that Leena Manimekalai has demanded cancellation of cases filed against you in several states.
The court sought answers from the states
Last month, the Supreme Court, while giving relief to Leena Manimekalai, stayed the arrest and gave the next date of hearing on 20 February. Today the court has asked the concerned states to file their reply.
What is the whole matter?
Leena Manimekalai had released a poster of her documentary Kali, in which Kali was shown smoking a cigarette. The poster had an LGBTQ flag in one hand, while the other had a trishul. Whereas Kali was seen smoking a cigarette in the poster. As soon as this poster came, there was a ruckus. A lot of trends were run against Leena on social media and then cases were registered against Leena in many states for inciting religious sentiments.
