Equity mutual funds continued their rise in February with inflows of Rs 26,866 crore, the highest monthly inflow in the last 23 months. The February figure of investment in equity mutual funds is about 23 percent more than the January investment of Rs 21,780 crore.
Monthly SIP made record
According to data released by mutual fund companies' body AMFI on Friday, contributions through monthly systematic investment plans (SIP) reached a new high of Rs 19,186 crore in February, surpassing Rs 18,838 crore in January. Venkat Chalasani, Chief Executive, AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds in India), said, 'We saw in February 2024 that with 49.79 lakh new SIP registrations, there has been a total of 8.20 crore SIP accounts. This underlines investors' unwavering commitment to disciplined wealth accumulation.

Overall, the mutual fund industry saw an inflow of Rs 1.2 lakh crore in February, which was almost the same as in January. In this, loan oriented schemes contributed Rs 63,809 crore, equity schemes contributed Rs 26,866 crore and hybrid schemes contributed Rs 18,105 crore. Strong inflows have increased the net assets under management (AUM) to Rs 54.54 lakh crore at the end of February from Rs 52.74 lakh crore in January.
