Whenever the Indian cricket team is announced for every new series or tournament, the fortunes of some new players change in some part of the country. Most of the players feel disappointed. Among these there are some players who perform consistently in domestic cricket and everyone says that now their number will come, yet it does not happen. The latest example of this is Sarfaraz Khan. This Mumbai batsman has once again been disappointed and this time Sarfaraz has expressed his disappointment openly.
Recently, the Indian selectors announced the squad for the first two matches of the four-Test series against Australia. It was expected that Sarfaraz, who has been scoring runs for the last three seasons in domestic cricket, would finally get a place in the squad at least this time. Unfortunately this did not happen. Sarfaraz’s close friend, his senior and Suryakumar Yadav, who has made a mark in international cricket, was selected in the Mumbai cricket team.
Sarfaraz could not sleep the whole night
It is no longer easy for Sarfaraz, who has scored more than 2 thousand runs, several centuries, double centuries, triple centuries in three seasons, to hide his disappointment. After the team selection, in a conversation with the English newspaper Indian Express, Sarfaraz expressed his pain over the neglect of the selectors. Sarfaraz said,
Next day of selection I came to Delhi from Assam (after Ranji Trophy match) and could not sleep whole night. I kept asking myself – why am I not there (in the squad)? But now after talking to my father I am fine.
Sarfaraz broke again due to ignorance
Sarfaraz said that due to being ignored once again, he will not be in any kind of depression or lose courage and will practice more and more. The 25-year-old batsman, however, admitted that he too feels bad as he is not a machine. Sarfaraz said,
Somewhere I felt sad. I was completely broken. It is natural for anyone, especially after scoring so many runs. I am also a human, not a machine. I have feelings too. I spoke to my father and he came to Delhi. We practiced in Delhi.
However, Sarfaraz believes that his number will also come soon as he is moving forward. He said that in the initial times he used to talk about joining the Mumbai team and now the talk at home is about Team India, which shows his progress.
answer given on fitness
Not only this, Sarfaraz, who often comes under questions regarding fitness, made it clear that if this had happened, he would not have been able to field on the field for two days after batting for two consecutive days, playing long innings. Sarfaraz also claimed that he has passed the yo-yo test, which has once again become an important criterion for selection in the Indian team.
