Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been living in India since last year's coup. The interim government of Bangladesh has urged India many times to hand it over to Sheikh Hasina. Mohammad Yunus's interim government says that Sheikh Hasina is accused of corruption and murders, he will come to Bangladesh and face legal actions.
India did not send Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina back, but the case is being heard on them. The International Crime Tribunal has started a hearing to fed the charges against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three others in a crime case against humanity during the July rebellion.
During the trial that started on Tuesday, prosecutor Tajul Islam told the tribunal about the crimes imposed on Sheikh Hasina. If Sheikh Hasina did not do such a crime, then perhaps the Bangladesh government would not think of hanging her. Sheikh Hasina has many such mistakes, which are criminals in the eyes of the Yunus government. Arguing these crimes, the Yunus government's lawyer has demanded action against Sheikh Hasina.
What are those mistakes?
Tajul Islam said that crimes against humanity have been committed from January 6, 2009 to August 5, 2024. Islam spent a large part of his speech while talking about Sheikh Hasina's father, Bangladesh founder President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He said, “Sheikh Hasina wished to maintain power in Bangladesh for a lifetime. His father also wanted the same.”
Family dictatorship
Islam said in the hearing, “Sheikh Hasina wanted to build a family dictatorship, forced the state to spend four thousand crores Taka to install idols and pictures in honor of Sheikh Mujib across the country. She amended the Constitution and presented a provision to put a picture of the Prime Minister in all government offices.”
What are the allegations?
He has been accused of crime against humanity like murder, attempt to murder, torture and conspiracy. Apart from this, he is accused of making inflammatory statements. Islam said in the hearing that Sheikh Hasina had given 'inflammatory statements' against the protesters at a press conference on July 14 last year as Prime Minister.
Accused of bullet and burning alive
Apart from this, three people including Sheikh Hasina have been accused of shooting and killing six people in Chankharpul on 5 August. The three are also accused of killing six people in a van in Ashulia and killing Abu Saeed, a student of Begum Rocayya University in Rangpur. It is believed that if Sheikh Hasina does not make this mistake, then today the Yunus government is not intent on hanging her.
