Nepal 72 seater crashed on Sunday in Pokhara Yeti Airlines plane Was 15 years old. It was Nepal’s worst accident in nearly five years. The twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft operated by Nepal’s Yeti Airlines had 68 passengers, including 15 foreign nationals, and four crew members on board. The foreigners include five Indians, four Russians, two South Koreans and one each from Ireland, Australia, Argentina and France.
An official of Yeti Airlines said that the five Indians on board the plane have been identified as Abhishek Kushwaha, Vishal Sharma, Anil Kumar Rajbhar, Sonu Jaiswal and Sanjana Jaiswal. - The ATR72 is made by a joint venture between Airbus and Leonardo in Italy. It is a widely used twin-engine turboprop aircraft.
- Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 said the Yeti Airlines plane was 15 years old and was equipped with old transponders with unreliable data.
- According to Yeti Airlines’ website, it has a fleet of six ATR72-500 aircraft. Yeti describes itself on its website as a leading domestic carrier in Nepal.
- Yeti Airlines flight 9N-ANC ATR-72 was on its third flight since Sunday morning. It flew from Kathmandu to Pokhara and back to Kathmandu in the first day.
- Yeti Airlines aircraft took off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at 10.33 am. While landing at Pokhara airport, the plane crashed on the banks of Seti river between the old airport and the new airport.
