PM Modi expressed deep sorrow
There have been reports of more than 1000 people killed in an earthquake in the eastern Paktika province of Afghanistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed deep sorrow over this disaster. PM Modi had tweeted and said that India stands with the people of Afghanistan in their difficult times and is ready to provide all possible disaster relief material at the earliest. The disaster has hit the country at a time when the international community has distanced itself from Afghanistan in view of the Taliban taking control of the country following the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
Due to this situation, carrying out the rescue operation in a country with a population of 38 million is expected to be very difficult. Afghanistan’s Ambassador Fareed Mamundzai commended India for showing solidarity and support in this difficult time. At the same time, the ruling Taliban in Afghanistan has also appealed for international help. For the first time since the Taliban came to power, a technical team was deployed at the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan on Thursday to coordinate and closely monitor the delivery of humanitarian aid. The Ministry of External Affairs has given this information.
