A person has been arrested on suspicion of serving to Daniel Khalife allegedly escaping from HMP Wandsworth in south London in September 2023.
The Metropolitan Police stated the 24-year-old was apprehended on Wednesday morning at an handle in east London on suspicion of aiding an offender as a part of their ongoing investigation.
The pressure stated the arrested man is just not a member of employees on the jail and has been bailed till late April.
The arrest was carried out by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
Khalife, 22, is because of go on trial on the Old Bailey in October. The former soldier had denied escaping from the Category B jail, the place he was being held on remand after being charged with terrorism offences.
He is accused of escaping by allegedly strapping himself to the underside of a meals supply car on 6 September and was arrested on a canal towpath in west London three days later.
Detective Chief Superintendent Gareth Rees, of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, stated: “This arrest follows months of careful investigation into the alleged escape and enquiries remain ongoing into this.
“We understand that there will be significant public and media interest in this arrest but with Khalife now charged and awaiting trial, it is extremely important that people do not report, comment or share information – including online – which could in any way prejudice these future court proceedings.”
