President Joe Biden The leaders of Japan and South Korea are due to meet on Sunday to coordinate their response to North Korea fearing its nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Apart from this, on the eve of a one-on-one meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Biden has sought information in order to overcome China’s aggressive stance in the Pacific.

North Korea recently fired a missile
The meeting is taking place after North Korea has fired dozens of missiles in recent weeks, including an intercontinental ballistic missile launched 10 days ago. Due to this missile, a rescue alert had to be issued in northern Japan. Japan has also warned that isolated North Korea could conduct its seventh nuclear test in the coming weeks.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters on Saturday that Biden intended to use the meeting to strengthen the three countries’ joint response to the threat posed by North Korea. North Korea is officially known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Bomber aircraft have been deployed to the Korean Peninsula for the first time since December 2017. A total of 240 warplanes were deployed during the joint air force exercise in this area, including F-35s.
Biden said he plans to pressure the president to use his unique influence on North Korea to rein in its aggressive stance. The same is expected from the comprehensive bilateral talks between Biden and Xi before the G-20 summit to be held in Bali, Indonesia.
Biden told reporters on Sunday that whether he decides to do so or not is up to him. Sullivan said China has an interest in playing a positive role in containing North Korea’s worst tendencies.
