This time BCCI is going to earn huge money from IPL Media Rights. There are mainly four companies in this race. All eyes will be on this auction.
The market is hot for the last few days regarding IPL Media Rights. Many types of news are coming out. Whose share of these rights will come, it will be decided on Sunday, June 12. On this day it will be known on which channel IPL can be seen from 2023 to 2027 and on which digital platform its live streaming will be done. This time there are going to be separate auctions for TV and live streaming and that is why the pockets of BCCI are going to be very hot. Everyone is waiting for whose part this race will come. BCCI had already floated tenders for this.
There are mainly four companies in this race and these are Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance, Walt Disney, Sony and G. Amazon was first in this race and was trying to get the live streaming rights in its name. But on Friday, there were reports that Amazon has withdrawn its name from this race as it is not ready to spend huge amount just for online streaming. In such a situation, now the real race is left between the four companies.
four different packages
This time the auction is going in a different way. This year there will be an auction for four different packages for which companies will bid. There will be separate tenders for TV and digital rights, as well as overseas rights and rights for the playoff match. These four packages were prepared with a possible strategy which includes the distribution of matches. The league will have 74 matches in the first three years while the last two seasons will have 94 matches per season.
There is a fierce battle for digital rights
The four companies that are mainly in the race are in the race for both TV and digital rights, while the competition for digital rights is more because there is a race between some other companies as well. These companies are Times Internet, Fun Asia, Dream11, Fancode. The main contenders for overseas rights include Sky Sports and Supersports.
base price 33 crores
The BCCI had earned Rs 16,347 crore from the distribution of media rights in the past. But this time there are reports of this earning going beyond 50-60 crores. However, after pulling out of Amazon’s hand, there may be a decrease in it. This time the base price itself is Rs 33 crore.
