SAI terminated the contract of chief cycling coach RK Sharma on Wednesday following allegations of unfair treatment during a women’s cyclist training camp.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Wednesday terminated the contract of chief cycling coach RK Sharma, acting on a preliminary report of an inquiry committee after a woman cyclist alleged inappropriate behavior during a training camp in Slovenia.
The entire team was called back after the complaint.
After accusing coach RK Sharma of inappropriate behavior, it was decided to recall the entire Indian team that had gone to Slovenia to participate in training and competitions. The Indian team consists of five men and one woman, this team went to Slovenia on 15 May and according to the earlier schedule, they were to return on 14 June. SAI had already recalled the cyclist who made the allegation and constituted a committee to probe the matter. The complaint said the coach threatened the cyclist that he would ruin her career by removing her from the National Center of Excellence (NCOE) if she did not sleep with him. The cyclist then decided to leave the training camp keeping his safety in mind.

After a woman cyclist accused her coach of sexual harassment, now a national level female sailor (Sailor) has accused the coach of the team of making her feel uncomfortable during her trip to Germany. According to information received from a source, the complainant approached the Yachting Federation of India (YAI) several times in this matter but when he did not get any reply, he sought the intervention of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) last night. SAI has now sought a report from the federation by the end of the day, asking whether the sailor had contacted them earlier, and if so, why the matter was not taken seriously.
