England’s young all-rounder Sam Curran fetched a whopping 18.50 crores at the Kochi auction, setting a new record for the highest price for any player in IPL history
The auction for the IPL 2023 season, which took place on Friday, 23 December in Kochi, saw a lot of cash flow. England all-rounder Sam Karan set the record for the most expensive player, while players like Cameron Green and Ben Stokes also spent a lot of money. T20 world champion England players looted maximum money as expected. All the teams spent a total of Rs 58.10 crore on England players. It includes the three most expensive players in the top 5 in the form of Sam Karan (18.50 cr), Ben Stokes (16.25 cr) and Harry Brook (13.25 cr). (AFP)
Indian players were at number two, on whom Rs 41.95 crore was spent. Experienced opener Mayank Agarwal (8.25 crores) was the most expensive Indian bought by SRH. Apart from them, many uncapped players of India were also sold at base price. (Getty Images)
Teams spent Rs 23.75 crore on West Indies cricketers, out of which Lucknow Super Giants spent Rs 16 crore on Nicholas Pooran alone. Apart from them, players like Jason Holder and Odion Smith were also sold. (AFP)
