Australia defeated India by 5 runs in the first semi-final and thus broke the dream of the Indian team in the second consecutive T20 World Cup.
Once again the dream remained incomplete. Once again the enemy who broke the dream was the same. After the T20 World Cup final defeat in March 2020, Australia also broke India’s heart in the 2023 T20 World Cup semi-finals. Australia defeated India by 5 wickets in the semi-finals played in Cape Town and this defeat apparently broke the heart of captain Harmanpreet Kaur. (AFP)
Indian captain Kaur had high fever before this semi-final match but she decided to play in the match and scored a brilliant half-century. Even after this defeat coming so close, it was difficult for Harmanpreet to hold back her tears. (AFP)
The Indian captain called such a close defeat unfortunate after the match. Harmanpreet said, “Can’t feel more unfortunate than this. The partnership with Jemima Rodríguez brought us into rhythm.” (AFP)
Captain Harmanpreet’s run out was going to change the course of the match for Team India, which was looking towards victory at one time. He said, “After this we were not expecting to lose. Nothing could be more unfortunate than the way I was run out.” (AFP)
He also praised Jemima Rodriguez, with whom India came back in the match on the basis of a tremendous partnership. “We are happy to put in such an effort and take the game down to the last over. We wanted to challenge till the very last ball,” said the Indian captain. (AFP)
