12 thousand international runs, 30 centuries, 65 half-centuries, dhamal in India, then West Indies veteran cricketer Gordon Greenidge, who created his own identity by rocking the world, was not even recognized in the Delhi Metro. The time from 1970 to 1980 is considered the golden time of the West Indies and Gordon, who was a part of this golden time of the Caribbean team, reached Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium from Delhi Terminal 3 by Delhi Metro. He has come to India to participate in a program.
Greenidge, which has spread across the world with its square cut, originated from India only. His wonder came out from India itself and spread all over the world. Greenidge made his international debut in 1974 in a Test match against India in Bangalore and he scored 93 runs in the first innings of his debut match and 107 runs in the second innings.
Now only tests are seen by Greenidge
His batting started being discussed in the whole world leaving India. After ruling the cricket world for almost 17 years, he doesn’t watch much cricket anymore. Greenidge only watches Tests now. He said that he is not criticizing T20 cricket, but T20 is not his game. He said that T20 is and will remain. This is exciting. There is fun in this too. It’s good, but it’s not a match they see regularly. Greenidge said that he is a Test cricketer and will always remain so. This is not a criticism, but his personal views.
T20 is just a spectator sport
The Caribbean veteran said that T20 is a game of spectators and not of any cricketer. He said that he does not want T20 cricket to ever replace ODI cricket. It’s like fast food. Test match is the real cricket. On the declining standard of West Indies cricket, he said that earlier he used to feel sad about it, but now he does not, because now he does not watch cricket. They watch cricket only when it is a test or if they have heard about any young player, they will try to know him. He said that he will try to see that player alone and take his decision.
