After Royal Challengers Bangalore's IPL 2025 wins, a stampede in Bengaluru on June 4, in which 11 people lost their lives. RCB is held responsible for this incident at first sight. The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) said that RCB is responsible in this entire incident because it had announced the celebration of victory without police approval. A total of 11 people lost their lives in the Bengaluru accident. At the same time, many people were injured in it. The accident took place outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Court's big comment on RCB
The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) said in an important decision on Tuesday that at first glance, Royal Challengers Bangalore seems responsible for the stampede in Bangalore. According to the report of Live Law, the tribunal commented that the police cannot make all the arrangements within just 12 hours, they have no magical powers like Aladdin's lamp.
Question on RCB's negligence
The tribunal severely criticized the IPL franchise RCB, as they had announced the celebration of their victory without the approval of the police, after which a large crowd gathered and the accident occurred. The tribunal quashed the suspension order of senior IPS officer Vikas Kumar Vikas, saying that RCB suddenly announced the celebration on social media, due to which about three to five lakh people gathered. Tribunal said, “At first glance it seems that RCB is responsible for the submission of three to five lakh people. RCB did not take proper permission or consent from the police. Suddenly, he posted on the social media platform and after that the crowd gathered.
Government shock, criminal case registered
This decision of the tribunal is also a major setback for the Government of Karnataka. The Karnataka government held the police responsible for this incident. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had previously criticized the intelligence department and said, “If the intelligence department cannot give more accurate information on time, what is the benefit of this?” A criminal case has been registered against RCB officials, KSCA and DNA Entertainment. Several event managers were arrested, but were later granted interim bail. Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court is hearing the accident. The next hearing has been scheduled on 1 July 2025.
