Pakistan defeated West Indies by 120 runs in the second ODI in Multan to take the series 2-0, but this mistake of captain Babar Azam was one of the highlights of this match.
At present, two batsmen are showing the most in international cricket. One is former England Test captain Joe Root and the other is Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam. Both have rained runs in the last two years. For now, here’s the talk of Babar Azam. The Pakistani captain is consistently scoring runs in every format. In ODIs and T20s, his team is also getting victory. After defeating Australia, Pakistan has also taken a 2-0 lead over West Indies. In the second ODI played on Friday 10 June, Pakistan defeated the Windies by 120 runs. Despite this brilliant performance, Babar Azam made such a mistake, which surprised everyone and the question arose whether he did not know the rules.
It is about the 29th over of West Indies’ innings. Till this time the match was completely in the hands of Pakistan. West Indies’ score was 131 runs and 7 wickets had fallen. Mohammad Nawaz made the 29th over. Alzarri Joseph played the very first ball of the over towards the leg side and ran for runs. Babar Azam made a big mistake as soon as the fielder threw the ball. He stopped the ball, but used a glove from wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan to stop it. He wore a glove in his right hand and caught the ball with it.
What does the law of cricket say?
This action of Babar is not right according to the rules of cricket. The Marylebone Cricket Club, the custodian of the laws of cricket, has clearly stated that this is not allowed. According to Law 28.1 of Cricket,
No fielder will be allowed to wear gloves or outer leg guards except the wicketkeeper. Along with this, anything to protect the hand or fingers can be worn only after the consent of the umpires.
A rare thing happened tonight. West Indies were awarded 5 penalty runs due to illegal fielding by Pakistan.

Umpires punished for mistake
That is, Babar had broken the law of cricket. Now Babar knew the rules or not or whether he was just trying to show cleverness, only he can tell about it, but it could not escape from the eyes of the umpires and he punished the Pakistani captain for this mistake. . The umpires added 5 runs to West Indies’ score as a penalty. However, it did not have much effect on the match and Pakistan won the match by 120 runs by bowling out West Indies for just 155 runs.
