Remembering the sacrifices of our Brave freedom fighters
Bhagat Singh stands out among the three as a charismatic independence fighter. He joined the independence movement at a young age, and the British executed him when he was only 23. In an effort to get revenge for the murder of nationalist leader Lala Lajpat Rai, Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru planned to kill Lahore police superintendent James Scott on December 28. They accidentally shot John Saunders, though, and Singh escaped to Calcutta to evade capture. He was detained following his second attempt to overthrow British rule, during which he and Batukeshwar Dutt detonated bombs inside Delhi’s Central Assembly Hall while chanting “Inquilab Zindabad!”
