Poultry Farming: Poultry farming has been a powerful means of employment in rural areas of Jharkhand since its inception. This used to generate income for rural women. But now women are doing poultry farming through new technology. Full attention is being paid to their food and drink. Its women’s earnings have increased and migration has decreased.
The contribution of women in the agriculture sector has always been there. women agriculture (Agriculture) does all the work related to it. Similarly poultry farming (Poultry Farming) also women are progressing a lot. women farmers (Women Farmers) is bringing prosperity to their village and the economy of the village (Rural Economy) is getting stronger. With the help of various voluntary organizations, these women farmers are given necessary inputs related to poultry farming. Due to which rural women farmers get a lot of help. There are many such villages in Kamdara and Basia blocks of Gumla district of Jharkhand, where the women of the village are rearing poultry and earning good money.
In the village, women raise chickens of Sonali breed. It is like a desi chicken. But it lays more eggs than the indigenous hen and also weighs more. Apart from this, immunity in these chickens is also better than that of poultry. Apart from Dahutoli village of Kamdara block of Gumla district, women are rearing poultry in four to five villages with the help of NGO Udyogini. The village itself is the Mother Breed Center, where chicken chicks are found.
Chickens sell for Rs 300-350 a kg
At the rate of Rs 20-30 per piece from Mother Breed Center, women buy chicks and keep them with them. In six months, the reason for everyone becomes one to one and a half kilos. Then those women sell these chickens at the rate of Rs 300-350 per kg. Women are also benefiting from this. Because apart from the chicks, women farmers are also given medicines. So that women can feed those medicines to the chickens when they fall ill. In this way the death rate is negligible. This increases their earnings.

A woman farmer of the village told that she is getting extra income through poultry farming. Earlier, due to lack of work, had to go out to work. Due to the high altitude of the village, there is not enough irrigation facility here. Due to this, farmers are able to do only rainfed farming. But now they have benefited from poultry farming. Apart from chickens, they also sell eggs. He told that his house was broken but he got his house built with the money earned by selling chicken. Similarly, women farmers are writing success stories in other villages of the state.
