Mango cultivation (Mango FarmingThese days the farmers associated with ) are troubled by a fly. This fly is causing damage to the fruits and affecting the quality. Its direct effect is the income of the farmers (Farmers Income) is falling on. farmers (FarmersIn view of the problem of ) scientists have come forward. In Bihar, Krishi Vigyan Kendras are organizing workshops for farmers at their level and are telling the farmers how to deal with this fly. In this connection, Krishi Vigyan Kendra situated at Parsauni in East Champaran organized a program regarding the management of this fly in village Pipra in Paharpur block. Here the farmers were given information about the prevention of fruit borer fly. In the program, Dr. Zeer Vinayak (Plant Protection) told about the loss being faced by the farmers. He said that fly infestation can be easily reduced or prevented with pheromone trap.
In this program, Soil Scientist Dr. Ashish Rai told the farmers that before doing any kind of farming, we should know the quality of the soil and to know the quality, we should first test the soil of our field. He appealed to the farmers present in the program to get the soil sample tested. In this program, Dr. Zeer Vinayak told that first of all we have to note that mango fruit fly can be minimized by installing pheromone trap in your garden.
50 to 80 percent loss
Generally it has been seen that till now 50 to 80 percent damage is done in mango orchards due to fly. The fruit fly starts laying eggs inside the mango fruit after the fruit sets. After some time the larva emerges from the eggs of the fruit fly, which starts eating the fruit inside. As a result mango starts rotting. Due to the fall of rotten fruit in the orchards, the number of flies again increases. Because of this, one reason for this fruit borer fly is 50 to 80 percent damage in the gardens.
How to do prevention?
The easiest method for its prevention is to kill the fruit borer fly in its mature stage. For this, farmer brothers can use pheromone traps. It should be used at the appropriate time for setting up the trap, from the time of fruit set till plucking of the fruit. For 1 acre area of mango, 4 to 5 pheromone traps are used. Along with this, it is also advised to collect rotten fruits in the garden and bury them in the pit. It is necessary to spray neem oil with a solution of 1% per liter of water 3 weeks before plucking the fruit. Weeds should be removed along with plowing the garden at an interval of 15 to 20 days after the fruit sets.
