Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the flag at the summit of Kalika Mata Temple Pavagadh, located on top of a hill in Pavagadh in Panchmahal district. The temple has also been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Panchmahal district during his Gujarat tour (PM Modi In Gujarat). Where the PM visited the famous Pavagadh Kalika Temple (Kalika Mata Temple Pavagadh) hoisted the flag on the summit. The history of the Mahakali temple on which the PM has hoisted the flag is very old. This temple is one of the oldest temples in the region and is visited by a large number of pilgrims.Kalika Mata Temple History, UNESCO has also included this temple in the list of World Heritage.
The temple of Kalika Mata is built on the top of a hill in Pavagadh of Panchmahal district of Gujarat. This temple was built in the 11th century. The spire of this temple was demolished during the attack on Champaner by the Muslim invader Sultan Mahmud Begda in the 15th century. Along with this, the dargah of Pir Sadanshah was built there. Since the top of the temple was occupied by the dargah management. This is the reason that for so many years no shikhara or pillar could be installed there, so that the icon of the temple could be hoisted. After several rounds of talks, the officials of the Dargah Committee accepted this request and vacated the upper spire of the temple. After which the way was cleared to install a pillar to hoist the flag there. Along with this, UNESCO has included this temple in the list of World Heritage.
The reconstruction of the temple was done in two phases.
The reconstruction of this temple has been done in two phases. Its first phase was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in April 2022. In this program the foundation stone of the reconstructed part which has been inaugurated today under the second phase was laid by the Prime Minister in 2017. This includes the expansion of the base of the temple and ‘campus’ on three levels, street lights, CCTV system etc.

While hoisting the flag on the top of the temple, the PM said that this Shikhar flag is not only a symbol of our faith and spirituality. It is also a symbol of the fact that centuries change, eras change, but the peak of faith remains eternal. The PM said that today’s moment fills my heart with special joy. He said that one can imagine that after 5 centuries and after 75 years of independence, the flag was not hoisted on the summit of Maa Kali, today the flag is hoisted.
