Action is being taken on older vehicles in Delhi. The ban has been banned for filling their petrol. On the second day of stopping the filling of petrol, it was revealed that 78 overseas vehicles were captured in the camera, but only 7 vehicles were seized.
Under the instructions of the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM), petrol pumps across Delhi have been asked not to provide petrol-diesel to overseas vehicles from Tuesday. According to officials, 78 overseas vehicles were seen in the cameras. Number of vehicles reduced at petrol pump
Sources in the Transport Department said that 78 vehicles were found to be older, but they were not confiscated as they had no-objection sertifications. At the same time, earlier 80 vehicles were seized on Tuesday.
Nischal Singhania, president of the Delhi Petrol Dealers Association, said that Wednesday was a very dull day at petrol pumps. The number of vehicles at the petrol pump was very low. He also said where the number of vehicles was low at the petrol pump. At the same time, hardly any overseas vehicle has come. He said that the technical problems seen on the first day were solved to a great extent on Wednesday, but the camera placement needs to be improved.
Overseas vehicles do not do much pollution
Another petrol pump owner said, if we are able to catch only 7 of the 60 vehicles on the second day, then there is a need to reconsider. He said, we all want polluted vehicles to get away from the road, but older vehicles are not always the most polluted if they are being maintained properly. He further said, on the other hand, if a new vehicle is not maintained properly, it will produce more pollution. He said that it needs to be seen whether the number of oversees vehicles taking fuel from NCR has increased.
By March 2025, the estimated number of old vehicles in Delhi is more than 60. At the same time, in 2023, more than 22,000 overseas vehicles were seized, while in 2024 more than 39,000 vehicles were seized and sent for scraping.
Where only 7 vehicles were seized on Wednesday. At the same time, 80 vehicles were seized on Tuesday. According to senior officials, it includes 67 two -wheelers, 12 four -wheelers and the rest of the other categories.
When the rules implemented
After the announcement that from July 1, all the overseas vehicles will not only be refused to fuel in Delhi but will be confiscated and taken for scraping, all fuel pumps have been equipped with technology to identify petrol -powered vehicles older and more than 10 years old diesel -powered diesel vehicles. CNG -powered vehicles have been exempted from action.
The Aam Aadmi Party has criticized the decision not to fuel older vehicles. The party termed the decision as anti -people and corporate supporters and called it a “Tughlaqi” decree.
