On a significant day, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot launched a pioneering initiative by inaugurating six mobile cancer detection vans, each designated for a division within the state. These specialized vans are thoughtfully equipped to administer tests pertaining to various types of cancers, including lung, throat, cervical, and breast cancers.
The invaluable contribution of these cancer detection vans has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of esteemed organizations such as RRECL, HPCL, Hindustan Zinc Limited, Green Co, Reliance Foundation, LN Mittal-HEML, and Renew Power. These entities have come forward under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments to provide these mobile units, as shared by Ravikanth, the principal secretary of medical education.
Chief Minister Gehlot also marked the commencement of 32 significant projects linked to medical colleges
In a momentous virtual ceremony, Chief Minister Gehlot also marked the commencement of 32 significant projects linked to medical colleges and structures for three nursing colleges. These projects hold a combined value of Rs 887 crore. Additionally, he inaugurated 36 projects, the collective cost of which amounts to Rs 379 crore.
A remarkable achievement for Rajasthan is the establishment of a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem. The state has emerged as a trailblazer by offering free medications, medical check-up facilities, and the Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme, ensuring cost-free treatments up to Rs 25 lakh. An impressive statistic highlights that over 50 lakh patients have been beneficiaries of the Chiranjeevi scheme. Each day, an astounding 1.50 lakh tests are conducted at no charge. Notably, even high-cost procedures like MRI, CT scans, heart and liver treatments, and even bone marrow transplants are being provided free of cost.
The far-reaching impact of these initiatives is underscored by the noticeable decline in maternal and infant mortality rates across the state. Chief Minister Gehlot, in his address, expressed the hope that the Prime Minister considers implementing similar medical schemes nationwide. He took pride in sharing that during his tenure, the number of MBBS seats has surged from 1,850 to 3,830, and PG seats have risen from 960 to 1,690. Furthermore, the addition of 26 new nursing colleges has translated to a substantial increase of 1,560 nursing seats.
In sum, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s unwavering commitment to healthcare reform is now manifest through these initiatives. The state of Rajasthan stands as a beacon of accessible and quality medical care, serving as an inspiration for nationwide emulation.
