Amidst communal tension and violence in Howrah district of West Bengal, a picture of brotherhood of brotherhood has emerged from rural Howrah. Amidst the violence, Hindus got Muslim girl Pakija married with pomp.

There was a ruckus in Howrah on the day of marriage itself.
Iddunsha Mallik lives with her children in Khalisani, Ulberia. Husband died eight years ago. Cycle garage is the only source of income. The elder daughter got married three years ago. Three months ago, the marriage of middle daughter Pakija was fixed with Mukkibar Sheikh in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas. With the consent of both the families, the date of marriage was fixed on June 12. Preparations were going on in the meantime, in protest against the controversial statement given by Nupur Sharma, thousands of people from the minority community took to the road on Thursday, 9th June and immovable the national highway for 11 hours. On the second day i.e. on Friday, after Friday prayers, thousands of protesters again took to the streets and pelted stones and bombs on the police. Police booth and jeep were set on fire in Ulberia. From Ulberia in rural Howrah to Domjur in urban area, the protesters created a ruckus.
Pakija and Mukkibar got married with the help of Hindus
Seeing the situation becoming uncontrollable, the state government stopped the internet service and imposed section 144. Seeing the deteriorating situation, Iddunsha Mallick’s restlessness increased. Even the relatives coming to the wedding could not come. Pakija’s mother and other family members decided to postpone the wedding date. Meanwhile, the members of the local club came out as messiahs. Other members of the club including Tapas, Laxmikant, Uttam encouraged Pakija and her mother to get married on June 12. Club members sought help from the police. The police also agreed. The procession reached on Sunday in the presence of club members and police. After this Pakija and Mukkibar tied the knot.
