Haryana’s Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister JP Dalal has said that dragon fruit (Dragon Fruit) in the stateDragon FruitA special team will be formed by the Horticulture Department to promote dates and mushrooms. This team will motivate the youth for dragon, date and mushroom farming. Along with this, the work of providing training will also be done. The Agriculture Minister was presiding over the General Body meeting of the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission (MIDH) under the Haryana State Horticulture Development Agency. Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture Department Sumita Mishra was also present on this occasion.
During the meeting, he also directed the officers to work on more and more projects to increase the yield of mushroom this year. In the districts where there is no mushroom, work should be done to promote mushroom cultivation by training people under cluster development. With this, not only will mushrooms be easily available to the people, but employment opportunities will also be created for the youth.
What happened through MIDH?
Giving instructions to the officers, the Minister said that a plan should be prepared by setting targets for the promotion of dragon fruit, date fruit and mushroom. He informed that Rs 31714.37 lakh has been spent by MIDH on various schemes till 2021-22. Through this scheme, work on projects like nursery, tissue culture lab, expansion in the area of fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, aromatic plants, mushroom projects, water sources, center of excellence, bee keeping, post harvest management, solar facing and mission management etc. Has happened.
Construction of 4340 water tanks in the fields
The Minister informed that about 21453 hectare area has been covered under fruit crops, while 37297.82 hectare area has been covered under vegetable crops. It was told in the meeting that irrigation arrangements were made to keep the fruit plants alive. Under this, 4340 water tanks have been constructed in the fields of farmers. Similarly, 1146.07 ha area has been covered under Protected Structure and 5469.14 Ha area under Mulching/Plastic Tunnel.
Instructions for Affordable and Quality Seeds
In the review meeting of the seed production program, the Agriculture Minister directed the officials to develop a new system to provide affordable and quality seeds to the farmers. Non-hybrid seeds of turmeric, fenugreek, onion, spinach and brinjal have been prepared by Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University, while hybrid seeds of lady’s finger and bottle gourd have been prepared.
