According to the National Fire Protection Association, poor quality electrical wiring and equipment are responsible for 69 percent of arson cases. People often ignore or are unaware of this important fact. Its consequences can be fatal.
Everyone must have faced the incident of fire in the wiring of the house at one time or the other. Short circuit in most incidents of arson (short circuit) is believed to be the cause. But this short circuit does not happen just like that. There is a special reason for this and that reason is poor quality. We are not talking about this, but the people associated with the electric industry.
People associated with the industry say that due to poor quality, not only incidents of fire occur, but due to this our products are not able to compete at the global level. He says that the trust of Indian quality has to be strengthened at the grassroots level. This will help attract global companies who are keen to see India as a China plus one strategy.
Fire occurs due to poor quality
The industry says that the government will have to intervene to bring domestic products up to world class quality. The domestic market also needs to provide better products and related services. This will help in reducing the import of critical components, thereby saving foreign exchange. Better products will ensure better efficiency, which will reduce costs and improve export competitiveness. According to the National Fire Protection Association, poor quality electrical wiring and equipment are responsible for 69 percent of arson cases. People often ignore or are unaware of this important fact. Its consequences can be fatal.
Standards need to be reconsidered for better products
Industry experts say that India is currently focusing on Make in India. That’s why there is an urgent need to reconsider the standards of our country’s products. Especially on products related to electrical industry. This is also necessary because we are serious about upgrading our infrastructure and related facilities.
Current standards are applicable only to PVC insulated wires
The industry says that the existing standards prevalent in Europe and America need to be incorporated in the Indian market and strictly enforced. If any manufacturer does not follow these standards then it should be dealt with strictly. In the case of common wires or cables used in crores of homes and offices in the country, BIS still monitors only PVC insulated wires. These PVC insulated wires can withstand only 70 degree centigrade.
More than 50 die every day due to arson due to electricity
Ajit Kulkarni, who works in the field of electrical consultancy, says that almost all types of wire fires are basically due to electrical faults. There is no lack of inspection and compliance in these. Countries like India where the temperature in some parts reaches up to 50 degrees during the summer season. In such a situation, it is considered a big negative factor in terms of safety in case of fire. Apart from this, this PVC insulation also emits toxic fumes which reduce visibility to almost non-existent. This smoke is also harmful for people’s health. According to statistics, more than 50 people lose their lives every day in India due to electrical fires in such dangerous situations.
