As soon as you get out in the sun, the whole body becomes soaked with sweat. As a result, smell starts coming from the body. The surprising thing is that sweat is odorless. It doesn’t have any smell. That is, it is like an odorless liquid. The big question is, if so, why does the body smell? Scientists did research on this and many new things have come out in the research. Know why this happens….
According to the report of IFL Science, there are two types of glands in the body associated with sweat. The first gland is ‘eccrine’ sweat glands. This produces water that is odorless. That means sweating. Since it is odorless, it does not have any odour. The second gland is ‘apocrine’ sweat glands. This is what is responsible for the smell.
The ‘apocrine’ sweat glands that cause odor are located in such places in the body where there is hair. A chemical like oil comes out of these. This chemical becomes the reason for the bad odor coming from the body. Therefore, whenever a person feels stress, anxiety and pain or is excited for sex, this gland becomes more active and releases more chemicals. The result is more body odor.
Now let’s understand how the oil coming out of the gland starts smelling. Actually, the oil-like chemical that comes out of this gland does not have an odor. When it comes in contact with the bacteria present on the skin of the body, the bacteria convert that oil into fatty acids. In this way the oil released from the gland turns into a compound that produces an odor.
In childhood or at a young age, the body smells less or does not come, why does this happen, now we know the answer too. This is because the apocrine sweat glands are not usually activated until puberty. That’s why the body does not smell at a young age.
