Cornelia says that it seems that the government does not want to take action in this matter. The problem is that such demonstrations are being held only once a week.
Parents are protesting for the education of children
Placards in hands, some messages written in them and a crowd of some parents at the intersections. This crowd is not very big, just a few people. This unique way of protest is being seen these days in Budapest, Hungary. There is a demand – good education for children. Actually, the teachers had started strike and protest regarding their demands for improvement in education. If there was no effect, he resigned. Now he is on notice period.
Not only teachers but also students and parents are agitating these days regarding education reforms in Hungary. This movement has started since January itself. So far the Orban government has not taken any action in this direction.
Teacher’s crisis in front of children
According to a report by Deutsche Welle, Cornelia, a resident of Budapest, protests by going to the square every day. There are other parents like him. She tells that after the resignation of the teachers, her 17-year-old son faced a problem. He needs a teacher for his child, who will appear for his final exams next month.
Cornelia says that the local school district has a Facebook group. When the teachers resigned, we also felt that something should be done. So we came up with the idea of intersections. It is very easy and if we stand at the intersections, people passing by on foot or in vehicles will be able to see. This campaign started in January and is going on till now.
What is this campaign?
Under this campaign, the parents of the children go to the intersections of the neighborhood. Signal remains red. During this, the parents stand at the intersections. They have placards in their hands. Demands for education-reform are written in those placards. They stand for a while until the signal turns green. During this, people’s attention goes to him. They return back to the footpath before the signal turns green. This series is going on since January.
Demonstration in small towns too
This method of protest is being adopted not only in Budapest, but also in small towns like Pecs, Santandre. All parents have only one demand – better education for their children.
Where there is a shortage of teachers, substitute teachers are appointed for the children. But this is not a permanent solution. Many people are demonstrating this protest. Some even talk. And some people blow horns in support.
Parents hold on to hope
Despite these protests, the louse is not crawling on the ears of the government. Cornelia says that it seems that the government does not want to take action in this matter. The problem is that such demonstrations are being held only once a week. Well Cornelia and parents like her hope that even more people will join this campaign. Will raise voice for the education of our children.
