Customers will also be able to track the status of the complaint on WhatsApp. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs will soon start receiving complaints through WhatsApp. Let us tell you that every year more than 7 lakh complaints are registered on the helpline.
According to statistics, more than half of the complaints are registered through the phone helpline. More than 50 helplines have been opened in 10 languages. The thing to note is that 90 per cent of the complaints are resolved through the helpline. Whereas, the rest are advised to file a case in the consumer court.
You can also complain like this
Apart from this, let us tell you that if any shopkeeper, supplier or company gives you bad goods or service, then it will have to be repaired or replaced immediately. If the company does not do this, then you can complain in the consumer forum. In the Consumer Protection Act 1986, consumer courts have been set up at three levels to hear such cases. If a case is worth up to Rs 20 lakh, then you can complain to the District Consumer Forum.
If the case is more than 20 lakhs and less than one crore rupees, then you can file a case in the State Consumer Commission. If the cost of goods or services purchased is more than one crore rupees, then you can go directly to the National Consumer Commission. It is not necessary to file a case against the product which was received. If someone has sent you some gift and you have not received it, then he can file a case on your behalf.
