What is Cop-27 and its theme?
The full name of COP is – Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC. It was formed in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Its conferences started from 1994. How many challenges are there?
There are many challenges facing the world in preventing climate change. For example, reducing carbon emissions, promoting the use of green energy. Improving the energy consumption of old appliances, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the general public from climate change and making the world climate change tolerant.
The effect of climate change is visible in India. There were 2755 deaths in India due to weather disasters. Crops of 18 lakh hectares were affected. 70 thousand animals died and more than 4 lakh houses were destroyed.
Those countries who talked a lot but did little work
To prevent the effects of climate change, strict steps have been taken in many countries. For example, Denmark has achieved the goal of using green energy up to 100 percent and Portugal is towards almost 100 percent green energy. At the same time, most of the situation has worsened in the developed countries of the world. These are countries that talked a lot about climate change, but failed to take strong measures.
- America: When US Congressional Speaker Nancy Pelosi went to Taiwan, China ended climate cooperation with the US. The US released 15 million barrels of oil reserves due to the energy crisis. Along with this, he did not give his share in the amount to be given to deal with climate change.
- Britain: Due to the energy crisis, the work of extracting gas-oil and burning coal in the UK North Sea is not being stopped.
- Russia: The war between Ukraine and Russia has been an undeclared problem for climate change. Due to the war with Ukraine, the European Union moved towards using fossil fuels.
- Europe: European countries were not taken seriously to curb greenhouse gas emissions and increase the use of green energy because these countries did not take such tough decisions whose effect could be seen.
- China: China has not been serious at all in preventing climate change. According to media reports, half of the coal being burned around the world is being used in China.
