Famous film director Tigmanshu Dhulia had recently expressed his frank opinion on films like 'The Kashmir Files'. Without naming any director, he had said, “That kind of films? They are useless pictures, who looks at them, they don't even move. The only thing that came up was, what was its name, Kashmir Files. I don't even talk about them, they are all useless pictures.” Obviously, the names of 'The Kerala Story' and 'Article 370' will be included in the list of Tigmanshu Dhulia's 'useless' films along with Kashmir Files. In an exclusive conversation with NewsNCR Hindi Digital, producer of films like 'The Kerala Story' – 'Bastar' Vipul Amritlal Shah and director Sudipto Sen have given their reaction on this statement of Tigmanshu Dhulia.
Vipul Shah said, “See, I believe that Tigmanshu Dhulia ji has the right to express his opinion in front of everyone. And I welcome his opinion. I am not saying that I agree with him. That is a different question. But they have the freedom to express their views openly in front of everyone. It is very important to have this dialogue among film makers. Tigmanshu is a very good friend of mine, he has recently worked in my web series Commando. And I would like us to sit down and talk about this openly. This freedom strengthens our democratic structure. “It should not be taken in a wrong way, it should be taken in a positive manner.”

Vipul Shah further said, “I want me to debate with him with my facts, and he wants me to debate with his facts and from this both of us will learn something new.” Although 'Bastar' director Sudipto Sen has a slightly different thinking on this entire issue. He said, “We definitely welcome such comments.” But before talking like this they should watch the film. If he talks after watching the film, I will definitely discuss this topic with him. But nowadays it has become a trend that people make assumptions about the film after watching the trailer. You have freedom to think and talk. But without watching the film, you do not have the democratic right to set a narrative about any film.”
