UPSC had given notification for 749 posts. Out of which 180 were IAS, 37 IFS, 200 IPS and the rest were Group A and B level officers in the departments. Out of 685 declared successful under the results, 244 belong to the general category, 73 to the economically weaker sections, 203 to the other backward classes, 105 to the scheduled castes and 60 to the scheduled tribes.

UPSC Civil (Pre) Exam 2021 was held on 10 October. A total of 10,93,984 candidates had applied for this exam. Out of which 5,08,619 candidates appeared. In January this year, 9214 candidates appeared in the Mains exam. A total of 1824 candidates qualified for the interview. UPSC conducts examinations every year to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and others. These examinations are conducted in three phases, the candidates who pass in the pre exam have to appear in the mains exam. After that the final list is issued after the interview.
