UGC Notice: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has prohibited Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies from offering Open and Distance Education and Online programs for the sessions January-February 2023, July-August 2023 and January-February 2024. is banned. At the same time, the commission has alerted the students not to take admission in any online and open and distance education course of the institute. In the official notification, UGC said that Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Maharashtra has followed the rules of UGC. not done. Along with this, the institute has also committed gross violations regarding the functioning of the Center for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA). Self-learning material and e-learning material (e-LM) renamed as Center for Distance and Online Learning.
According to the notice issued by UGC Secretary Manish Joshi, the institute was not following the fee refund policy announced by the UGC. The statutory body received several complaints in this regard from various stakeholders.
The institute will be permitted to offer open and distance education and online courses from the July-August 2024 session only after inspection and scrutiny by the UGC and after obtaining necessary approvals from the UGC.
The institute cannot start these programs until the permission is obtained from the UGC. The institute established in 1981 was given the status of university in 2003.
