JEE Exam 2023: JEE exam is conducted every year for admission in IIT. This year a category of candidates has been exempted from JEE Main. Let us know which is this category.

JEE Exam: Every year lakhs of students take part in Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for admission in top engineering institutes of the country. Admission to Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) is done through JEE exam only. This is the reason why only students from the country JEE Exam Do not apply for it, but students from abroad also apply for it. It also includes Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO).
However, now OCI and PIO category candidates will not be considered as foreign nationals. Till now they were considered as foreign national candidates. Now the students of these categories will be considered as general category candidates. The thing to note here is that these students will not have to appear in JEE Mains. An announcement was already made in this regard. But it will be only for 2023 i.e. only for this year.

This year, during the seat allocation process, a common merit list will be included for general category seats. Earlier, 10 percent additional seats were announced for foreign nationals.
What was said about the rules?
IIT Guwahati has issued a press release citing the decision given by the Supreme Court in February 2023 in a case related to OCI / PIO. IIT Guwahati’s press release said that the impact of this decision was considered in the emergency meeting held by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2023 on March 6, 2023. Keeping this in mind, some changes have been made in the information brochure of JEE Advanced 2023.

The eligibility criteria for OCI/PIO will remain the same as announced earlier. In this way, they will be directly eligible for JEE Advanced 2023 without appearing in JEE Main 2023. This rule will be applicable only for 2023.
