HP Govt Education Loan: Himachal Pradesh government will give education loan at one percent interest rate. This announcement has been made by CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu from the state. This scheme will be started from the current financial year itself. At the same time, a subsidy of Rs 25,000 will also be given by the state government to meritorious girl students to buy electric scooty.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said on Monday that a scheme to provide education loan at one per cent interest to poor students to help them pursue higher and professional courses would be started from the current financial year itself. So that students can start getting its benefit from now itself.

These students will benefit
The state government has proposed Rs 200 crore under the ‘Chief Minister Student Promotion Scheme’. CM Sukhu said in a statement that the objective of the scheme is to provide education loans to underprivileged children (families with income less than Rs 3 lakh per annum) through financial institutions or banks at an interest rate of Re 1.
The loan will help the students to cover coaching fees, accommodation, books and other expenses related to their education. Many courses have been included in this scheme. In these, loans will be given for pursuing courses like Engineering, Medical, Management, ITI to PhD courses, Polytechnic, B. Pharmacy, Nursing, General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).
What was the scheme launched for?
According to the Chief Minister, the main objective of this scheme is to ensure that no poor student in the state is deprived of higher and professional education due to lack of money. One percent interest rate is to inculcate a sense of responsibility among the beneficiaries so that they get motivated to achieve their goals.
Girl students will get subsidy
At the same time, a subsidy of Rs 25,000 will also be given by the state government to 20,000 meritorious girl students above 18 years of age studying in government colleges in the state to buy electric scooties.
