The Government of India on Saturday issued an advisory related to a fake job racket targeting IT-skilled youth. This advisory has been issued on such an occasion when more than 100 people have been given jobs by dubious IT companies. Myanmar moved to. The authorities have so far rescued 32 Indian nationals safely. These people were taken to a remote part of Myanmar on the pretext of getting great IT jobs. At the same time, India is currently working with Thailand and Myanmar to help 60 other people trapped in the same area.
India’s missions in Thailand and Myanmar are being offered lucrative jobs to woo Indian youth for ‘Digital Sales and Marketing Executive’ positions in Thailand, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. The mission has come to know that this is a completely fake job racket, whose purpose is to trap the youth. These rackets are being operated by IT firms suspected to be involved in call-centre scams and crypto-currency fraud. Actually, every year lakhs of youths turn to abroad for IT sector jobs. In such a situation, these groups want to target such youth.
What warning did the government give?
“It has come to the notice of our Missions in Bangkok and Myanmar that fake job rackets are offering lucrative jobs to Indian youth for recruitment to the post of Digital Sales and Marketing Executives in Thailand,” a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs said. These jobs are being offered by fake call centers and IT firms suspected to be involved in crypto-currency fraud. The statement further said, ‘IT skilled youth are being targeted. They are being duped in the name of lucrative data entry jobs in Thailand by agents based in Dubai and India along with social media aids.
“The victims have reportedly been illegally taken across the border,” the statement said. Most people have been taken to Myanmar. These people have been held captive for working in bad conditions. “Therefore, Indian citizens are advised not to fall prey to such fake job offers being issued through social media platforms or other sources,” the Ministry of External Affairs said. Indian nationals are advised to check foreign employers through the respective Missions abroad before traveling on Tourist/Visit Visa for the purpose of employment.
