The government is trying to ease the way for privatization of two public sector banks. Due to this, the Banking Laws Amendment Bill in the monsoon session of Parliament starting next month (Banking Laws Amendment Bill) is ready to be brought. After the introduction of the Banking Law Amendment Bill, the privatization of public sector banks will accelerate. Let us tell you that the Finance Minister (Finance Minister) Nirmala Sitharaman had proposed the privatization of two public sector banks (PSBs) and a general insurance company during the budget 2021-22.
According to reports, Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) and Central Bank of India may be privatized. However, the government has not officially announced the names of these two banks. The government has a plan to bring down the existing 51 percent stake in these two banks to 26 percent. This is possible only when the Banking Laws Amendment Bill is passed.
