Keshab Mahindra, Chairman Emeritus of Mahindra & Mahindra, said goodbye to the world on Wednesday at the age of 99. INSPACe President Pawan K Goenka has informed about his death by posting on Twitter. As soon as the news of his death spread, a wave of mourning ran in the industry. Keshab Mahindra joined his father’s company in 1947, which was involved in the manufacture and sale of vehicles. He served as the Chairman of Mumbai Listed Group for an impressive tenure from 1963 to 2012. After his retirement, he made his nephew Anand Mahindra his successor.

As an alumnus of Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, Mahindra played a key role in transforming Mahindra & Mahindra from a mere assembler of Willys Jeeps into a conglomerate in India. Under his leadership, the Mahindra Group expanded its portfolio beyond tractors and sports vehicles, with a valuation of $19 billion. Engaged in software services and real estate sector.
In 1987, Keshab Mahindra was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur by the French Government. Keshab Mahindra has also been a member of Prime Minister’s Council of Trade and Industry, New Delhi from 2004 to 2010.
