Earlier, due to the rise in large stocks like Reliance Industries amid strong global trend, major stock markets saw gains during early trading on Thursday. Earlier, there was a decline in the stock market for four days. The Sensex was trading 601.11 points higher at 53,142.50. On the other hand, the broader NSE Nifty climbed 171 points to 15,863.15. Reliance Industries, Maruti, ICICI Bank, ITC, HDFC and State Bank of India were among the top gainers in the Sensex. On the other hand, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel and Nestle declined.
Among other Asian markets, markets in Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai were in the green. Hong Kong markets were trading with minor losses. Meanwhile, international oil standard Brent crude rose 0.68 per cent to $119.32 a barrel. Foreign institutional investors sold shares worth a net Rs 3,531.15 crore on Wednesday, according to provisional stock market data.
